Southern Cooking Gone Gourmet
by Mail-In
I would have never thought to make a shrimp and grits dinner with a rich cream sauce... but thankfully the Dogwood did. Creative and traditional, this place puts a new twist on Southern cooking that is a truly an original culinary experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking to eat out in Pagosa springs. Be sure to try the Dogwood Tea, a long island ice tea meets southern sweet tea, but make sure you have a designated driver!
Best Southern Fried in Southwest Colorado

The Dogwood Cafe, without a doubt, has their nitch. There aren't too many restaurants in the are that offer a menu full of southern options all the way down to the fried okra. All of the food, including the chicken fried steak, is great. If you are on a diet or watching your cholesterol beware. The atmosphere is classy with art and photography on the walls, and most people casually dressed, but that's not to say that shorts and flip slops are frowned upon. If you can find a better collection of southern fried foods in the area I would be surprised.
