I am a texan here on temporary assignment, went to this restaurant and got some brisket. Very disappointing. dry and hard. they have all the cute Texas things up as decor, but need to learn how to cook good brisket.

Just the 'Q

Plain, no nonsense BB-Q the way it was meant to be. Save the fancy fixins for the parlor, this is about good meat at reasonable prices (considering the portions). I wish I had the option to get some fries with my BB-Q, but the Cheesy Taters hit the spot just the same. Customer-service was straight faced and straight forward, which is fine by me. But if you're gonna put a tip jar out, cracking a smile now and then ain't too much to ask.

Odd Experience, but Excellent Quality

I don't eat red meat, but I heard they serve a great smoked turkey on parchment paper, so I decided to try it. The price of the meal was a little shocking, but it really was some of the best turkey I've had. The dining area was really informal and not quite up to my standards for orderliness, but maybe that's how they do it in Texas? Anyone else out there have a similar or better experience than what I had?

It's the real deal.

Yup Serious Texas BBQ serves up delicious sandwiches and brisket, cheesy potatoes and of course Lone Star Beer and Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Both locations of Serious Texas BBQ are about the same for food. The south location has a better patio with fabulous views of the Animas River and even the La Platas. My Favorite at Serious Texas BBQ is the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cherry Chipotle Dressing. This house specialty is almost always piled too high with pulled pork and a sweet but tangy sauce. Add generous amounts of the table sauce with every bite and you are as close to Barbecue Heaven as you will get in Durango. I have yet to try the Blue Bunny Ice Cream because I always fill up on the meat. However, my Texas wife says Blue Bunny Ice Cream is the best. Atmosphere is distinctly Texas Rapture. Be ready to listen to some real country music.
