After sending an email to the owner, I was told that he was very sorry that I "misunderstood" his policy of violating VISA's terms and conditions. He did offer a $25 gift card and his apology. I simply told him thank you and I still think that his policy is terrible. He told me to take a hike and that he does not ever want my service? How big of a town is Durango? Not that big! We cannot have businesses in Durango treating tourists like this, let alone locals! Choose another restaurant if you want to have an enjoyable time. FYI, the manager yelled at me because I was upset that they would not take my VISA debit gift card. That it was the owner's policy. She did not give us a business card or ask us to give him a call. She would not get our coats as we were leaving or tell us Merry Christmas. The waitress was visably upset that the manager was not nice and did not handle the situation in a professional manner. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau.

I have lived in Durango for nearly 14 years and have frequented The Red Snapper over the years, not only for dine-in, but also for gift cards for family and friends. Our waitress was nice, my dinner was fine, my friend's dinner was also nice, my dad's prime rib was so rough that the heavy steak knife would not cut it. Now comes the good part. My co-workers at the office I've worked at for a year all chipped in to buy me a gift card for Christmas. They purchased a VISA Debit Gift Card. Better than cash? Not at the Red Snapper obviously. No sign posted, not even a nice manager to tell us that it was the owner's policy to not accept any gift cards other than their own. This was a VISA gift card. As good as cash? Not only was it embarrassing that I couldn't use my "gift" to pay for dinner, but the manager had no flair to emphathize. Well, little to say, we will not be going back. Do not go to the Red Snapper unless you have cash. You never know what form of payment they will accept today, but not tomorrow or the next day. The VISA gift card specifically said "accepted anywhere that VISA debit cards are accepted"...... Well, obviously not. The Red Snapper does not care about honoring their agreement with Visa.... So I really don't think that they want my money......

The crab stuffed mushrooms were the best thing I've eaten in a while!! Also, I found my favorite bloody mary in town! I always enjoy my visits to the friendly Red Snapper
WORTH THE DRIVE UP FROM ARIZONA

A friend from Mesa, Aizona came up to Durango to fly his glider with us. It was a geat day of soaring for all of us. In his report to the Arizona Soaring Association concerning his trip, his last comments were "Bob took me to his favorite seafood restaurant after flying. The food was good enough to justify the trip in itself."

The staff at the Red Snapper is Amazing! They always remember my name (no, it is not Norm), they know what I like and have perfect suggestions for each and every time we come in. Not to forget, The food is wonderful! Everybody already knows that they have the best salad bar in town! They also have the best chowder - I am drooling already! Is it dinner time yet?
